Christian G. Derstine – Furniture Maker
Having been an avid woodworker for most of my life, I opened my business after college graduation in 1987. Since that time, I have had the privilege of working with a handful of talented furniture- cabinetmakers, helping to grow the business into what it is today.
Starting as primarily furniture makers, we have evolved into a custom furniture and cabinet shop. We have completed countless pieces of handmade furniture, ranging from distressed hand planed pine pieces to high end curly maple. Designs include a number of Early American styled tables and chairs, benches, step back hutches, side boards, desks, entertainment pieces and more. We use a variety of materials including pine, poplar, oak, cherry, maple, curly or tiger maple, walnut, birch and reclaimed barnwood.
Our cabinet projects typically begin as a customer’s vision. We will help to put the ideas into design, using the latest trends, and blending them with traditional styling. Projects include kitchen, bath vanity, media, office, bookcase, and bar cabinetry. We are also able to supplement existing cabinetry, duplicating style and finish to create a seamless addition.
Our finishes include a variety stain and paint colors, distressed glazed paint and natural clear products. All finishes are top coated with clear lacquer or conversion varnish products. To keep up with today’s growing ecological concerns, we also offer low VOC, water based stains, paints and topcoats.
Custom is the key word in our business. We will make every effort to design, build and finish to the exact desire and individual needs of the individual consumer.
