Wood is a natural fiber and is prone to expand and contract with changes in humidity. We take all necessary precautions during construction to allow for periodic movement of the wood with causing damage to the piece. Pre staining of edges helps to disguise any movement that may occur.
Most of our products are top coated with a catalyzed clear finish that adds beauty and durability. Although this is a protective finish, it is still vulnerable to failure. Heat from hot dishes or pans can quickly discolor the finish, and certain solvents, such as those found in nail polish remover, can cause damage as well.
The use of a damp cloth, gently applied, serves well for daily cleaning applications. For long term beauty, use of a high quality, non- silicone furniture polish is recommended.
